    Shaw Rocket Fund

    Quality TV programming

Canadian children are influenced by some form of media every day. From television to digital communication, media is constantly evolving — and so are our children.

The Shaw Rocket Fund supports Canadian children's programming which is recognized worldwide for its creativity and commitment to quality. We are strong believers in the ability of quality programming to provide value in fueling the young, imaginative minds of our kids and enriching their lives through interaction with creative content on all platforms.

    Protecting children online

Shaw is the founding partner of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, a charitable
organization dedicated to children's safety. The company has donated to the Centre's
initiatives over the last three years, including Cybertip, a national tipline for reporting
child exploitation on the Internet, and Kids in the Know, an interactive safety
    education program.

    Zoe and Molly

    Teaching with online fun

The Centre recently launched Zoe and Molly, an online game that teaches children aged seven to nine the risks of sharing personal information and pictures over the internet. The game allows children to create their own avatar and complete an online comic book.

The online game complements a hard-copy comic book featuring Zoe and Molly, two Grade 5 girls who learn how to be safe on the internet.

Shaw Field Technicians distribute the Zoe and Molly comic book to Shaw Internet customers during installations at all homes with children in the target age range.

Kids Help Phone receives a Shaw grant to help ensure professional counsellors answer phone calls from kids in need of help and hope.

“Shaw is making a meaningful impact on the lives of Canadian youth through their contributions to Kids Help Phone,” says Tom McAllister, President and CEO of Kids Help Phone. “This grant enables us to further our vision of providing youth with support and counselling during the most critical times in their lives.”
