Through a variety of programs, Shaw provides support with funding, volunteer time and other resources, to help teams and athletes achieve success. Making it Happen Auction
The second Making It Happen auction on Shaw TV and Shaw Direct on Sunday, June 7, 2009, helped Shaw surpass their goal of raising $1 million for Canadian athletes.
With Shaw matching all viewer contributions and corporate donations up to $500,000 throughout the event, we have raised a total of more than $1,000,000 for our elite athletes.
Shaw and CAN Fund wish to thank everyone who participated in making our second Making It Happen auction such a success. With each donation and auction bid received, our athletes competing on the world stage are able to receive support at a critical time as they prepare to take on the world’s best.

Hire-an-Athlete
Athletes want to help themselves. They just need the right opportunity. To date, we have employed five members of the Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton team in various roles, from human resources assistant to service technician. We provide a flexible work schedule to allow for training and competition. They give us their outstanding work ethic and can-do attitude. It’s a win-win situation.

Sponsorship of Canada’s Bobsleigh and Skeleton team
Shaw is proud to be the official communications sponsor of the Canadian bobsleigh and skeleton teams through our partnership with the sports’ national governing body Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton. We provide $225,000 toward the teams’ coaching, equipment and technical expenses and have hired Canadian team athletes. In turn, they wear the Shaw logo.

Partnership with Canadian Athletes Now Fund
Shaw has partnered with Canadian Athletes Now Fund (CAN Fund) since 2008. CAN Fund supports Canadian athletes, from a wide range of amateur sports, with grants for living and training expenses so they can compete on the international stage.
