pediatrician at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) since 1993 and is the former
head of pediatrics at KGH.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Warshawski has raised
awareness about important issues affecting Canadian kids, in particular the
impact of childhood obesity. For his efforts in promoting Healthy Active Living
in children and youth, Dr. Warshawski has been the recipient of the Judith Hall

Pediatric Society, and a Special Achievement Award from the American Academy of
Pediatrics. Dr. Warshawski has supported multiple fundraising efforts of the

KGH Pediatric Unit and the current Giving Giggles campaign, which raised $3
million for a brand-new Neonatal ICU, Labour, and Delivery ward, and private
post-partum rooms for moms and babies at KGH.
He spearheaded the development of Sip Smart! BC, an
educational program that helps teach children in grades 4 to 6 about sugary
drinks. Dr. Warshawski was also a co-leader in the successful initiative to
disseminate this program across Canada, including to First Nation communities.
