HEALTH AND WELLBEING.
From school breakfast programs and community health clinics, to programs that promote physical fitness, Shaw is committed to helping youth lead healthy lives no matter what obstacles they’re facing.
Algoma Family Services
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Algoma Family Services provides child and youth mental health programs in Northeastern Ontario. Shaw supported the Every Breakfast Counts program, providing 2500 meals during the summer to children and youth who relied on breakfast programs offered during the school year.
Education programs make Brighter Communities, and investing in education is essential to our children’s future. We’re dedicated to making that future possible through local tools and resources. We have provided access to devices and connectivity, virtual programming and education, and also funded programs developing leadership and STEM skills.
Pathways to Education
Vancouver/Surrey, British Columbia
Pathways gives youth equal opportunities to graduate from high school and build confidence and resources for the future. Shaw has helped Pathways bring graduation within reach for high school students through academic, financial, social, and one-on-one resources.
Shaw’s history is rooted in entrepreneurship. We strongly believe that diversity amongst entrepreneurs and small businesses is what will allow the next generation of thinkers and doers to flourish. That’s why we support young entrepreneurs by providing the tools, resources and networks that can bring their businesses to life.
Lil E Coffee Cafe
This inspiring non-profit business hires people with developmental or intellectual disabilities such as Down Syndrome and Autism to help them develop meaningful career and life skills. Shaw has provided employment support for Lil E’s employees.
We support programs that give access to devices and improve digital skills so youth can get the most out of technology that can transform their lives. We’ve also helped keep low-income families connected with laptop library programs—helping them access the resources they need to participate in the digital economy. And, we’ve reduced barriers by supplying local care homes with the devices they need to stay connected to loved ones during the pandemic.
With training and support programs across a range of needs, Youth Ottawa helps close the youth unemployment gap by building employable skills and confidence. Shaw has supported their Youth Active Media Program, which promotes skills in filmmaking to voice community issues.
